If you love beautiful music, please subscribe. Music from the early 1900's up to the 1950's. In the playlists section, you will find many of the songs I've posted grouped by year of recording.
A NOTE ABOUT CHART STATISTICS: Before the 1940's, official music charts detailing the top selling records did not exist. However, music trade publications would include notices from record companies mentioning popular records, and other information that could be used to estimate a recording's popularity. As a result, modern researchers (in particular, Joel Whitburn in his Pop Memories book)have worked hard in combing through data of record sales, notices concerning popularity, and other historical artifacts from music publications to discern where the records of pre-1940 would have likely charted if official charts had existed. I feel it is interesting and important to use this data in my descriptions to give the listener a feel for how popular the songs, artists and recordings of the time were.

The Four Aces - I'm Yours (1952)
Charted at #17 on Billboard's Records Most Played by Disk Jockeys chart in 1952. The Four Aces cut a very good version of "I'm Yours" but the competition was too great, and this record didn't fare as well as the releases by Eddie Fisher and Don Cornell, which both charted at #3 in Billboard. A fourth recording, by Toni Arden, charted at #24. Original Billboard review: "The Aces, sparked by lead singer Al Alberts, do a strong job on the lovely new ballad, "I'm Yours"."
Written by Robert Mellin.
B-side is "I Understand".

Nice surprise. Not a fan of JL but he does a credible job with this great old song. Far better to my mind than "singer" Rufus Wainwright.

Lyrics: I love to go a-wandering Along the mountain track And as I go, I love to sing My knapsack on my back Val-deri, Val-dera Val-deri, Val-dera-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha Ha, Val-dera My knapsack on my back I love to wander by the stream That dances in the sun So joyously it calls to me Come, join my happy song Val-deri, Val-dera Val-deri, Val-dera-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha Ha, Val-dera Come, join my happy song I wave my hat to all I meet And they wave back to me The blackbirds call so loud and sweet From every greenwood tree Val-deri, Val-dera Val-deri, Val-dera Val-deri, Val-dera Oh, may I go a-wandering Until the day I die Oh, may I always laugh and sing Beneath God's clear blue sky Val-deri, Val-dera Val-deri, Val-dera-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha Ha, Val-dera Beneath God's clear blue sky Beneath God's clear blue sky

I didn't find this song in the same way everyone else did. Somehow my phone changed it's ringtone to this song by itself. I still have no idea how 😭
Red-hot !!!
As much as i am reluctant to say this but i have to give credit where credit is due! I now prefer this one more than the Elvis version ❤😊
An urbex video from Dan Bell brought me here.
13 YEARS AGO?? This music still fire in 2024
The most spectacular example of a band playing on was provided by eight musicians who played as the HMS Titanic sank in order to help the passengers keep their spirits up. All eight of these heroes drowned.
This channel is a lifesaver ❤ thanks
He was a brilliant crooner to me. I guess he's got a wonderful voice pipe almost alike Bing Crosby's.
Attention, everyone on this thread: Despite what you have read, this beauiful song DID NOT "CHART!" There was no such thing as "charting" this far back in the record industry! The technology for charting didn't even exist at the time! The man who wrote a book (under two different titles!) in which he listed "chartings" for thousands of records was probably accurate for the listings from about 1935 on (IIRC), but for records made before that, he made up the fake charts based somewhat on other sources which did not make any mention of comparison charting! I know this from decades of record research and from consulting with other experts on the subject. We were / ARE all in agreement that the so-called "chart" references for the early years shown in these books are FAKE! Again, the "charts" didn't EXIST back then!!!
buddy Clark was similar to Bing Crosby, with resonance and timber. More so than Dick Todd.
I grew up with the railroad tracks running right through our yard, when those trains went by you couldn't talk or hear anything and the whole house would shake. We loved standing in the yard and waving to the people on the passenger trains!
Who's Still Listening To This In 2036 ? Shout Out ! Spoiler Alert ! We Survived Asteroid Apophis In 2029 And Again In 2036 !
Waiting for you
I used to sing joyfully to the song dancing from downstairs in the morning of New years Day of 2014
Anything that Mickey Baker was involved in, he had to have his guitar playing in as well.

I'm reading "Winter of the World" by Ken Follett, and during a party, a band is playing this song. very interesting

Merci beaucoup M. Viardot. Pour moi cette information est très utile.
my lecture during the final assignment sent me this song, at least I enjoy this song while suffering.
AWESOME!
Is this considered the earliest recording of Barbershop Quartet? If not, what is?
Always make me sad when I think about Janet Vogel as I listen to this.
This song was a mystery to me growing up - the language and subject matter seemed odd. Turns out it was from a play from the 1920s, “The Vagabond King.” I loved this and every other song from the “Command Performance” album.
Nice
Benny was a great enough artist, and man, to let his ensemble all shine.
Summer, 106 years later, came across this song when it was 91 years old. Still one of my favorites.
Que voz magnífica tinha esse homem! Eu amo essa música!
